The problem, five times over

Every one of these clients needed more than a standard HRIS setup — each had a structural workforce quirk that generic configuration wouldn't handle correctly.

What I delivered

Multi-EIN school district — employees regularly held multiple positions across different legal entities, which breaks naive payroll calculation, job costing, and overtime math. Designed a configuration that correctly tracked multiple concurrent roles per employee and produced clean overtime and cost reporting across entities.

Multi-state construction employer — project-based, decentralized workforce with union wage compliance requirements. Built project-based time tracking, union wage rules, and redesigned the approval workflows to match how work actually got assigned in the field.

Nationwide seasonal event staffing — highly variable, location-based, event-driven scheduling across multiple entities, run by a team new to modern HR tooling. Beyond the platform build, this meant structured training and a phased rollout to drive adoption. Also shipped a custom app connecting their sales system to Rippling to auto-calculate commission payments and overtime thresholds — replacing a manual per-cycle process.

Fast-growing compliance-focused startup — needed to migrate a large library of externally purchased, high-cost training content into Rippling's learning management module (a nonstandard use case) with role-based course assignment. Discovery also surfaced material payroll calculation errors from the prior provider, which required redesigning the payroll configuration and iterative testing before go-live.

Accounting firm mid-migration — took over an ADP-to-Rippling transition after the client's sole internal payroll/benefits resource went on unexpected leave, leaving effectively no institutional knowledge behind. Stood up core HR, payroll, and benefits, and designed workflows simple enough for a team with minimal prior platform experience to run independently — plus activated platform capabilities (structured onboarding, role-based access, approvals) the client hadn't used before, even under ADP.

Why this belongs here

None of these are a dashboard or an app you can click into — the value was entirely in correctly modeling a workforce structure the platform doesn't natively expect, and making sure the team left able to run it themselves.
